Isolation equipment is used to isolate sections of the overhead line system for maintenance or in case of faults. Here’s how it works:

• Isolation Switches: These are devices used to physically disconnect a section of the overhead line from the rest of the network. Isolation switches are often manually operated, allowing for safe access to the isolated section.
• Section Insulators: These are insulating devices installed in the overhead line system, typically at the boundaries of sections that need to be isolated. They prevent the flow of electric current between the isolated section and the rest of the network.
• Temporary Earths: Before work begins on an isolated section, temporary earthing equipment is often applied to ensure any residual charge is safely discharged. This protects workers from electric shock hazards.
